A musical music post of music. And stuff.

I am really digging this song right now. Mmm... strategic placement of the f word.

Also, this song I am obsessed with at the moment. Just makes me happy and stuff.

I went to a charity dance Yelp had last night with some friends. Met some good peeps, had a lot of fun. It was a neon nerd dance party. I went full classic nerd. I did not take any self pics, because as anyone who knows me knows that I hate pics of myself, but others did. I will post them up when I get a hold of them.

Dreams crushed.

There are manatees all over this part  of Florida apparently. I  did not get to see any at the beach today though. I  was dreaming I would jump off the bridge going to Anna Maria  island and the magical sea cow would appear. It would be too long to swim back to the shore so Mr. Manatee  would rescue  me and swim me back to  the beach on his regal back. We would become best friends and have great sea adventures together. And when it was time to go home from vacation we would say our goodbyes sadly and wave with promises to meet every year at the same place under the bridge.

I will miss you  unmet magical Mr. Manatee!

To The Mountain!

Friday at work I started feeling kind of bad. I figured it was just tummy rumbles but just in case I figured I better start sucking on my zinc lozenges and green/white tea. I left after work for Portland to meet up with some friends and hit up Timberline Saturday. Unfortunately I woke up Saturday with a cold. I felt pretty bad and being woken up by a very enthusiastic (and clearly a morning person) Scott after 4 hours or so of sleep was not helpful. But I managed and this is what I looked like about 5 minutes after.

Yep. Sick. But on we went with a brief stop at the Safeway to load up on more dayquil and zinc. I kind of flitted in and out on the hour drive to Timberline at Mt. Hood. It had been raining a couple days before we got there but it turned out to be beautiful springish weather. Warm enough to get away with a light jacket and flannel. Sun was out occasionally and the cloud layer was low. Great visibility.

When we got out of the truck to gear up an older couple offered to sell us tickets for $50 a pop. Not bad, Timberline is usally $67 a ticket. Off to a good start. I had new boots I had never worn. They were a little stiff but I had been wearing them around the house while cleaning Thursday and they actually felt pretty good.

After getting tickets and everything you can ski/board down to the first lifts. The snow was in pretty good shape, groomed and packed. I was feeling kind of numb at this point so all was well with the world. Scott and I were boarding and Jeremy, Sabrina, and Zach were skiing.

The views were nice on the quads.

I was starting to feel pretty bad again a few hours in. This is what I looked like before "self medicating" with non traditional means.

And this is after a break in the trees with meds up to and including some Session winter brews. :)

You can see the top of Mt. Hood here.

It was beautiful at the top but the snow was harsh. They did not groom the runs above the tree line and with the rains it made the snow very hard and rough. It was like sliding on sharp ice. I actually ate it a couple times because I was not able to cut very well with the snow being so hard. And when I went down it was hard to get up because your arms would just punch through the snow about a foot deep. We only made one run from the top, we learned our lesson.

I had a good time for the half day I made it before getting laid out with this nasty cold. I probably should have stayed in town and rested but it was worth it. Still had fun and glad I did it. Now it is off to much warmer climates and some much needed sun!

Enjoy a few more pics of the views.

I made that

I get bored just watching tv alone sometimes so I learned how to crochet from a youtube video. I started a blanket first but it is taking forever and I wanted to actually finish something this year. So I made a beanie. I don't think it turned out too bad.

On The Pitch

My first rugby practice was last night. It was raining, cold, and muddy. And I loved it. I am a little sore today but I love that too. I have not had any luck finding any Krav Maga Worldwide certified schools here so I decided to try this. It was great. Playing in the mud and rain reminded me of when I was kid and we would play mudball in the parks in Mesa.

In Phoenix they always used irrigation to water the local parks. They would fill up the parks with a couple of feet of water once a week to try and keep the grass looking at least a crisp brown. After a few hours to a day the water would soak up until about six inches or a foot remained. This is when the games would start. After school we would grab a football and some friends and have it. Scores and rules didn't really matter. It was all about getting dirty. As you can imagine two feet of water on dry cracked dirt created a perfect deep mud layer. You could tackle and be tackled without worry of injury, it was like sinking in to a really soft mattress.A mattress with mosquitoes. There were a lot of mosquitoes.

It was also a lot of fun to ride your bike down the hill as fast as possible and just eat it hard. Good times. Also, skim boarding. Look it up on YouTube kiddos.
